Glow Effect

The pictures above are examples of what the Glow Effect can do to your very own photo. Make sure you follow these steps to get the same results!
The First Step

Once you open your desired picture, check to make sure your "Layers Window" is showing (press F7).
After you do that, go to the Layers Window and right click on "Background", then select "Layer From Background" in the dropdown menu (as shown in the preview to the left). This should change the name of the layer to "Layer 0". You may rename the layer if desired.
The Second Step

After you complete the first step, go back to your Layers and right click "Layer 0". A dropdown menu will appear again, and you will select "Duplicate Layer" (as shown in the preview to the right).
When you do this, it should create another Layer named "Layer 0 copy". Yes, this Layer is the exact same one as Layer 0, but trust me, this step is crucial. From this step on you will only be working with this layer, until the glow effect is complete.
The Third Step

To start the glow effect, make sure you have
Layer 0 copy selected! Press "Ctrl" + "A" (simultaneously) to completely select the Layer. Now go to "Filter >> Blur >> Gaussian Blur" and set the Radius to 1.0 pixels (as shown in the preview), then click OK. Make sure "
Layer 0 copy" was selected throughout this process, or else this step will not work.
The Very Last Step!

Now that most of the work is done, go back to your Layers Window and select "
Layer 0 copy" (or make sure it is still selected). Now go to the
dropdown list, located right next to the opacity, and select "
Overlay" as shown in the preview! This will give you that perfect glow in your picture. If you want to mess with the opacity to make it lighter, you can!!
Congratulations! You have now made your picture GLOW!
